more wisconsin emo/mathrock greats

in the mid to late 90's up until now, there have been a group of musicians that have put out some of the most heartfelt "emotional hardcore" that i have listened to. Angular time signatures, drumming that makes the non-head bober, bob their head, and vocals that are just poured out, are elements that make all these bands stand out.
im horrible at explaining what these bands do or how they make me feel. but i took the time to put em up, and you may or may have not heard of them, but i highly advice you dl and listen.
i dont have cover art for modern day remembrance and i also dont have the managra 7"
if anyone has these, please put them up in the comments.
enjoy

v/a - a four-way stop

managra - modern day remembrance

tintoretto - the sound of someone you love who is leaving... and it doesn't really matter

hero of a hundred fights - remote the cold

hero of a hundred fights - hero of a hundred fights

Moar Instrumentals!

Irepress - "Samus Octology"

linky

Awesome instrumental rock/post metal/whatever from Boston. Think of taking the heaviness of Omega Massif and/or Russian Circles and combining it with the buildup and stylings of Caspian.

For Fans of: Russian Circles, Omega Massif, Pelican, Caspian, Explosions in the Sky etc.

John Petrucci and Jordan Rudess - "An Evening with John Petrucci and Jordan Rudess"

linky

Live recording of a concert with Dream Theater staples John Petrucci and Jordan Rudess. Guitar and Piano brilliance at their finest. Lots of classical and jazzy sounding stuff. Highly recommended for headphone listening!

murder in the red barn & the goodboy suit

the goodboy suit - shared members of managra and murder in the red barn. short-lived under-rated band. one fucking awesome album. if i owned a label and didnt care about makin that much money, i would put out the vinyl version of this.

within walls without windows

murder in the red barn - most under-rated mathrock band. and yes, i have the s/t here. feel fuckin special that you are getting this.

Great record to listen to while walking in the snow; full of desolation. Everyone's probably heard this before but oh well. If not, indulge.

Cue - Bring Back My Love

(you dirty pirate hooker)

Described as "chamber music," Cue have made easily one of my favorite instrumental rock albums of all time. Slightly chaotic at times but always beautiful. Great for listening while walking at night or reading a book or what have you. It's almost an understatement to say this four-piece has created a gem in the pile of the "post-rock" releases in the past few years, but words fall short when I hear this record. Highly recommended. - DN

For fans of: Neil On Impression, Laura, Yndi Halda, Mono, etc
